High-quality, patient centered care is the primary goal of nurses at Norwalk Hospital. Norwalk Hospital nurses enjoy effective and satisfying collaborative relationships with physicians and other members of the health care team. The Department of Nursing utilizes a Shared Governance Model for decision making. This model empowers all members of the healthcare workforce to have a voice in decision making. Shared Governance is a nursing practice system that supports a patient-centered environment and professional nursing practice that is characterized by responsibility, authority and accountability for clinical decision making at the level of impact or point-of-service. Nursing teams work together to facilitate care, provide more time for personal contact with patients, and help each other to work more efficiently. Enhanced nurse-to-patient ratios allow nurses to sit down and talk with patients in order to give optimal care in addition to providing for their immediate clinical needs.
The supportive work environment at Norwalk Hospital allows nurses to offer quality, compassionate care while fostering opportunities for growth and leadership.
