Trauma patients may be admitted to Norwalk Hospital’s 25-bed, acute inpatient rehabilitation unit, which provides intensive rehabilitation in a medically supervised setting and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and the Joint Commission. The unit’s multidisciplinary rehabilitation team includes physiatrists, nurses, therapists and neuropsychologists, whose goal is to restore each patient’s lost function with the ability to return to the community.
The trauma center is part of the comprehensive emergency medical services that Norwalk Hospital provides to greater Fairfield County. These services include a fully equipped emergency department staffed by board certified physicians and nurses specially trained in emergency medicine. The Hospital also features a paramedic service which provides rapid, pre-hospital care to residents of Norwalk, Westport, Wilton, Weston and New Canaan.
