Patient and Visitor Information

Robotic Prostate Surgery at Norwalk Hospital

The Surgical Platform
The system consists of an ergonomically designed surgeon’s console, high-definition monitor and patient-side cart with four interactive robotic arms. The surgeon grasps the master controls below the monitor, with hands and wrists naturally positioned. As the surgeon moves the controls, the system seamlessly translates hand, wrist and finger movements into precise, real-time movements of surgical instruments inside the patient.

Urological Robotic Procedures
Robotic prostatectomy, also known as Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic prostatectomy, is considered the gold standard for minimally invasive treatment and is the most advanced surgical option for qualified prostate cancer patients. Jonathan Bernie, M.D., Chief of Robotics at Norwalk Hospital is a fellowship-trained leader in this procedure and a foremost expert in urologic oncology and laparoscopic surgery.

OB/GYN Robotic Procedures
